Cost of Energy

A 200 watt lamp is consuming energy at twice the rate of a 100 watt lamp.

Electric energy costs between 5 cents and 20 cents a kilowatt hour, on average about 10 cents per kilowatt hour. Industrial users who use a lot of energy will pay less than home users. Also, the cost of energy varies depending on the time of day, peak load, etc..

A 100 watt lamp burning steadily for a month costs about $8.

A 400 Watt Metal Halide lamp will use about $900 of electricity over its life!
