GE's HIR lamps save energy over standard halogen lamps but they also cost more. Customers want to know: "is it worth it?" Here is how you calculate energy savings: (1) (Watts saved) x (burning hours per year) = watt-hours saved. (2) Divide this by 1000 to get kiloWatt-hours saved per year. (3) Multiply this by the energy rate ($ per kWh) to get $ saved per year.
You can also use the Simple Energy Estimator (discussed later in the "Tools" module) to carry out this calculation. Click here for ----> ENERGY ESTIMATOR |
