Series and Parallel

A single electronic ballast can operate up to four lamps. Lamps can be wired in SERIES or PARALLEL.

A series-wired ballast operates two or more lamps in a succession across the output voltage of the ballast. If one lamp burns out, the other goes out as well.

Most GE electronic ballasts, however, are designed for parallel wiring. Wiring lamps in parallel allows each lamp to operate independently, so if one burns out, the others continue to work.

GE offers the widest selection of parallel wired ballasts in the industry. With the exception of dimming and high output ballasts, all GE electronic ballasts are designed for parallel operation.
